Where GTA 6 takes place
GTA VI is set in the fictional US state of Leonida — Rockstar's take on modern Florida. At its center is Vice City, the neon-soaked coastal metropolis returning for the first time since 2002, now rebuilt at a far larger scale.
It's shaping up to be the biggest and most detailed map in the series, spanning dense city streets, wetlands, beaches, and open countryside. For a deeper look at the city and state, see our Leonida and Vice City page.

The six confirmed regions of Leonida
Alongside its character reveals, Rockstar named six regions across the state of Leonida. Tap any region below for what we know so far.
The neon-soaked heart of Leonida and the series' long-awaited return to its Miami-inspired coastal city.
Read the guideA chain of sun-bleached islands off the coast, where Jason worked for local drug runners.
An Everglades-style wetland of swamps and airboats, based on official material.
A forested wilderness region that brings a rare nature side to the map.
An industrial port town away from the glamour of Vice City.
A smaller inland community, one of the least-detailed regions revealed so far.
Vice City has its own dedicated guide today. Dedicated guides for the other five regions are in the works — tap one above and you'll land right back here until it's live.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has not confirmed an official map size. Based on trailers and official screenshots, Leonida is clearly larger and denser than GTA 5's Los Santos, mixing a full city with surrounding wilderness. What matters more than raw size is density — the amount of interactive detail packed into it — which appears to be a major focus this time.
